Well, Thanksgiving weekend is officially over. It's CHRISTMAS time!! Brooke, Jeff and I decorated the house on Saturday (all except for decorating the tree...we will need to wait and finish one night this week after Brooklynn is asleep).
Today, Brooke and I went shopping for a bit and she talked me into buying her a new pair of jeans. She said they made her diaper look smaller, so of course I had to get them. Then we came home and played the rest of the night. She was worn out by 7pm and fell fast asleep (that was until she woke up with an upset tummy at 9pm). But finally after a few laps around the living room and lots of yawns, back to bed she went. I think she really woke up to say goodnight to daddy (he went to the Titans game tonight).
These last four days have been wonderful. Being able to spend the whole Thanksgiving break with her was incredible. She is so curious, clever and incredibly sweet. She loves giving kisses and hugs, and when she wraps her little legs around you and hugs you tight with both arms wrapped around your neck, there isn't anything better in the world. Mom tried to explain what it was like, but she said I wouldn't understand until I had my own daughter...and she was right, I can't even put into words how much we love her.
Today she said hello, blue and Hi Mom. She knows two new sounds: cow and lion. She was standing in the kitchen by herself, until she realized it...then the legs started to get wobbly :) She starts her first full week of school tomorrow since she was in the ER 3 weeks ago. Should be fun getting her up bright and early tomorrow morning.
We hope everyone had a great weekend!

Black Friday...Jeff and Brooke's plans to get out of the house by 5am were a bust - they were both lying in bed watching Blue's Clues. I didn't leave until 9:00 am and met my friend Cindy for breakfast at Cracker Barrel. We are the 2nd shift of shoppers, going in after all the hard core shoppers have gone home and back to bed. At Cracker Barrel I bought Brooke the weasel that chases the ball - she enjoyed that for all of 10 minutes, then moved on to something else because she was tired of chasing it around.

Brooke and Jeff hung out during the day at the outdoor mall in Murfreesboro and then came home to catch the Huskers vs. Colorado game.
She was wearing her lucky NE jersey, so of course they won!!! Go Big Red!!!

After the game, they went over to the neighbors house to visit Mary and Allen. Jeff said she was all smiles and throwing out crib signs (a.k.a. sign language).

By the time they came home she was worn out. We had dinner and played for a bit, then it was off to bed by 7:15pm. She fell asleep within 5 minutes (didn't even finish her bottle). She was snoring up a storm when I went in to check on her. I already can't wait until tomorrow so I can give her kisses and hugs.

Tomorrow, Brooke and I will be putting up the Christmas decorations - should be lots of fun! I guess I will have to start putting the bulbs up high enough on the tree so she won't be able to reach them.

Hope everyone had a fun day shopping, watching football or both :)

Happy Thanksgiving! This is Brooke's 1st Thanksgiving and she had a great day. She woke up early, but decided to drink her bottle and sleep an extra 30 minutes for mom and and dad. She ate breakfast and watched some of the Macy's Day Parade (she recognized Dora The Explorer)...is it bad that I am now singing the Dora song in my head?!

She watched football upstairs in the "man cave" with daddy (I'm not sure, but I think she had beer breath when she came down to help mom cook).

Brooke helped with Thanksgiving dinner: she made potatoes, stuffing, sweet potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce and green bean casserole. I burnt the rolls as usual. It must have been good since Jeff had two helpings. Brooklynn ate vegetable medley and banana yogurt for dessert.

We watched Blue's Clues and Moose A. Moose, played and read a few books. We talked to PaPa and Karrothead, Nikki, Tasha, Donna, Kim and David (left msgs for Cindy and Chris) and skyped with Pa and Mimi to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. Then we took the grocery cart for a stroll. She is crawling more and more every day. We are hopefully going to lose the scoot, although it does keep the floors clean.

We are so thankful for our families and of course for our wonderful daughter Brooklynn. It doesn't seem like that long ago that she was a mere 6 1/2 lbs. Now she is 30 inches long and weighs 18lbs. She has the most beautiful smile and keeps us laughing. We are so lucky to have her in our lives - she surprises us with something new everyday (like when she started signing today that she wanted "more" food, then she had a few other signs that neither Jeff nor I knew - so I guess we need to catch up...she was probably calling us a few choice names!).

Let's see...anything else new this week...oh ya, Brooke tried to kiss a boy at school. I guess her teacher heard one of the little boys laughing, turned around and Brooklynn had him pinned to the ground, smacking her lips trying to kiss him (her new thing is to smack her lips until you give her a kiss...it is really cute). Great, my daughter already has a reputation and she isn't even out of the INFANT ROOM. I better say a few extra prayers on Sunday.

Brooke went to bed a little early to get ready for "Black Friday". She and dad wanted to get out early so they get back in time for the Nebraska game (BTW...ever since she started wearing her Nebraska jersey in TN, the Huskers are on a winning streak....I'm just sayin'). We had better head to bed as well since her schedule is now our schedule. Our wake-up call will be around 5:15am (days of sleeping in are so long gone). I regret now bragging to my sisters when they would call around 9 or 10 am and I would say how great it was to just lie around and relax on the weekends...karma...it's a b!tch.

Happy Thanksgiving!
