Easter 2010
Easter was so much fun this year! Thursday was the big Easter party at Gardner school. They played music and gave the kids a plate full of goodies (I know it was making me hungry - I almost grabbed a cupcake off of one kids plate when he turned around to look out the window). Brooklynn and I baked mini cupcakes the night before and frosted EACH and EVERY one of those tiny cupcakes (in the back of my mind I was wondering why I hadn't bought them at Kroger). But we had a good time making them even though Brooke was trying to eat all the frosting.
After the Easter feast, the kids went outside for an Easter egg hunt. The weather was perfect and they had a great time. After school, Brooke and I went to see the Easter Bunny. The bunny costume had much to be desired and needless to say she wasn't going anywhere near it, even for a sucker (I had to agree with her). So no pictures with the Easter Bunny.
Gardner was closed Good Friday so I took off and spent the day with Brooklynn. The weather was beautiful and we decided go to the park and swing, and swing, and swing, and swing. She LOVED it...so now of course I am looking at a little play set for the backyard (my only worry is that it gets so hot in the back - maybe we can put it on the side of the house...who knows). At the park, Brooke was little miss social butterfly as always - waving at everyone and saying "hi...hi...hi".
Getting her back into her car seat to go shopping proved to be more difficult that I originally expected...that girl loves to swing. In the end, some kisses and the promise of "snacks" prevailed and we were off to the outlet mall.
We found all kinds of cute stuff including plaid shorts, shirts, a little dress and a cute pair of pink tennis shoes. We ventured back to the house and played until dinner time (which included laps around the house holding on to my finger and walking). She is walking great, but she has to lightly hold on to my finger otherwise her buns go right to the floor). She has been walking for awhile, but just won't take those first steps by herself yet. I feel it is coming soon - and then watch out!
Easter Eve was fun - after she went to bed I made construction paper Easter eggs and laid them on the floor from her bedroom to the living room, leaving chocolate filled eggs along the way for her to find. The next morning when she came out of her room, she was so excited and crawled from egg to egg picking everything up along the way. She finally made it to the living room and went straight for the basket filled with goodies (of course I had to help her eat some of it - even though I didn't want to...the things mothers have to do for their kids).
We all went to Easter Mass and then out for breakfast (she was waving at everyone during mass and making funny faces). She looked so beautiful in her little Easter dress and surprise, surprise...we took lots of pictures. T he rest of the day we spent outside and then grilled out that night (actually, I was supposed to make a new chicken recipe, but halfway through the recipe, I realized I didn't have any chicken...I blamed Jeff). Despite the dinner debacle, we had such a great weekend! I love her so much and wish I could spend every day with her. I can't stop kissing her face...no wonder her cheeks are so red and chapped.
We hope everyone had a fabulous Easter and was able to spend time with their family and friends.
